Upgrading 5in Smart Array to 5302/128 .... STOP error
I have an ML370 which has an onboard Smart Array 5i Array Controller and I would like to replace it with a 5302/128 Array Controller. After inserting the new controller and changing the boot order, the server boots up to the W2K splash screen and then gives the following STOP error ...
0x0000007b INACCWSSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.
Can anyone help? Is upgrading fom the 5i to the 5302 supported? Links on the HP site led me to believe that I could upgrade quite easily from a 5i to a 5302.
Many Thanks in advance
Colin

Re: Upgrading 5in Smart Array to 5302/128 .... STOP error
You need to install the SA-530x driver first before you make the change:
1) down the server
2) install the SA-530x board and boot
3) install the OS driver and down the server again
5) change SCSI cabling from 5i to 530x and boot
6) go into SCU (F10) and select your SA-530x as primary boot controller and boot the OS.
This should do the trick.
