Upgrading Firmware on DDYS Drive

Hi,
I have a CompaqPC DDYS-T18350 scsi hard drive from a Proliant, and I am trying to update the firmware on it.
I have tried using IBM's firmware update tool, but I cannot do it with that.
I have downloaded ROMPaq 19678, and have created each floppy disc.
I have also loaded the DOS ASPI for the SCSI controller that the drive is attached to, but the ROMPaq software tels me that it cannot find any hardware to update when I boot from the first floppy.

Is there any other way hat I can upgrade the firmware on this drive?

Thanks,
Eoin

Re: Upgrading Firmware on DDYS Drive

Dear Eoin,
On the hard drive, is there a spare part number on it?
Or any other numbers?
Once I get this info I should be able to help.

Re: Upgrading Firmware on DDYS Drive

Hi,
There are a lot of numbers on the drive, but I'll give you a few.
There's model: DDYS-T18350
IBM P/N: 07n4210
CPN: 210788-001
CT: 239B2017DL81BM.

It's attached to an iWill SCSI controller, and it is those ASPI drivers I am loading.

Re: Upgrading Firmware on DDYS Drive

From the number you gave me from the drive, it shows that this hard drive never came in Proliant Server. Also all of these drives were recalled and purged due to an error at POST. This drive should have come from a desktop product.
Do you know where this drive came from?

Re: Upgrading Firmware on DDYS Drive

I'm not sure exactly whether it came from a Proliant or was purchased as a seperate upgrade from a reseller.

What exactly was the problem with these drives, and can it be fixed?
