Upgrading Memory on Proliants

Hello Everyone:

I have two servers, a Proliant ML 370 and a Proliant ML 530, and wish to upgrade the memory on both of these boxes. For the record these boxes are currently at 512 MB, and I'd like to take them up to a gig of RAM.
My question is do I need to purchase this memory in pairs? Thanks in advance, and if there are any other concerns please let me know.

ML370G1 memory kit consist of 1 memory module
ML370G2, G3, G4 memory kit consist of 2 memory modules - you must upgrade in pairs
ML570G2, G3 memory kit consist of 2 memory modules - you must upgrade in pairs
ML570G1 momory kit consist of 4 memory modules - you must fit all 4 slot bank
