Upgrading NIC in an MSCS environment

I currently am running a W2K server with MS cluster
services and a 10/100mb NIC on both the network connection
and the cross-over connection.

I want to upgrade the NIC on the network connection to a
1 gbit. IP address, mask, gateway and name servers will
all remain the same. Nothing about the cluster or cluster
volumes will change.

Are there any issues I need to be aware of that would
prevent the cluster volumes from working with the new NIC?

Hi!

I think you have nothing to worry about. Just replace the nic on the passive node. Let it come up and check, if it could take over the ressources, then update the other one. The only thig that is changing the the speed and the MAC Adress, that should be no problem for the W2K Cluster.

Out of an overabundance of caution, I would recommend bringing the cluster down.

Doing this upgrade one node at a time creates a situation where the two nodes have different hardware configurations which is not recommended.
