Upgrading a DL380G5 (with 5060) to Quad core (5300)

Hello all,
A customer wants to upgrade an existing DL380G5 with a 5060 processor to quad cores (5300), i.e. taking out the 5060 and installing a 5300 processor.
I understand there have been two versions of the motherboard and only the latter supports the above procedure.
Need instructions how to check the board's version (or any other way to check if the specific board supports the conversion)

Hi ,
See if could check for the part number on the system board,

System board with processor cage and battery, supporting Intel Xeon 53xx processors 436526-001 ( this supports the quad core processors)

or, check for the server product numbers, if it mathches any of these numbers,(all these support quad core processors)

or, just provide the server serial and porduct number and i will confirm it for you.

Please advise if that specific machine can be upgarded

hi,
this particular model, does not support quadcore processors... you will have to change the motherboard with spare 436526-001, for it to support the quad core processors..

My customer is using a Proliant DL380G5 with 2 dual core processors since january 2006 (417458-001).
Its serial number is 2UX642015E.

Is that possible to replace the existing processors with 2 Intel quad core processors.
