Upgrading a Proliant 6000.

I recently accquired a Proliant 6000. Can the processors be upgraded? I currently have 4-400mhz.Xeons and would like to use something a little faster without having to buy a new machine.

The highest speed proc HP/Compaq ever released for this server is the 500 MHZ /w 2 MB cache. It's possibly you may be able to add 600 MHZ xeons, but I'm not sure what the switch settings this would be.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if a bios update was in order or if this was the ceiling on this machine.

Well I dug into it this morning, I had completely overlooked the dip switches. Now I have 4-500 mhz. Xeons happily crunching away. Thank you for all your help.

For what is worth, This is a home machine that I "rescued". I couldn't just let it go to the crusher.
