Upgrading disks in RAID 5 array
We are planning to upgrade 4x 18GB disks to 4x 36GB. The array is RAID 5 on a SmartArray 431 controller. The plan is to shut down the machine, swap out the first disk and reboot and let it rebuild, then the next disk and so on... rebuild priority on the array is set to High. There is about 40GB of data on the disks at the moment - any idea how long it will take to rebuild each disk? Also, how long might it take to extend the volume after the rebuild is finished?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Upgrading disks in RAID 5 array
Hello,
Depending upon the HW configuration it takes between 25/30 minutes per GB of data. Please make sure that you have a good backup before you proceed with this step.
