Using CL1850 as seperate nodes

We have a Compaq CL1850 cluster which as far as I can tell consists of two 1850R servers together with a Disk array all in one box.

We now wish to split the servers and use them independently with only one of them using the Disk array. (We don't seem to be able to get this to work) The question therefore is

Should this be possible or are we wasting our time?
Do we need a special version of Smart start that recognises the CR3500 Array controller?
Could the CR3500 controller be faulty?

The current status is that both servers are working independently but neither of them are using the array as they can't detect it?

Re: Using CL1850 as seperate nodes

You can do this -- lets say that node 1 is the one you want to have accessing the shared storage and node 2 is the standalone.

On the back of node 2, you will see a thick black cable with a silver header running up to the shared storage -- remove it --also remove the blue crossover cable running between the two nics -- now node 2 will never see the shared storage and they will function as two independent servers
