Using HP iLO without license for POST monitoring only
People,
I'd like to know if it is possbile for me to use HP iLO v2 up to v4 without license (standard) just for performing HP SPP firmware update remotely for all my Proliant Gen 5 up to Gen 8 servers and also monitoring POST process during the server reboot?
Because at the moment I'm working on several remote office sites which has proliant servers but the iLO IP is still set as 0.0.0.0

Re: Using HP iLO without license for POST monitoring only
This document covers the iLO feature set and comparison between standard and advanced licenses
HP iLO family datasheet comparison table
If iLO isn't getting an IP, more than likely the iLO isn't connected to a network, or the network doesn't provide DHCP.

Re: Using HP iLO without license for POST monitoring only
Hello albertwt,
ILO management without license has limited or disabled features like remote console, virtual media ...
More details you can find here:
http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA4-5167ENW.pdf
[Moderator: The links are no longer valid. Please refer to the HPE Support Center]
If you want to upgrade server using SPP remotely you will probably need mentioned licensed features.
You can also try trial ILO license to test all licensed ILO features - https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=ILO_TRIALS
If your ILO management has not valid IP address please verify if you have ILO properly connected to you network and configured (DHCP / Static IP address ...).

Re: Using HP iLO without license for POST monitoring only
Link is still valid and takes you to current ILO quickspecks.
On page 3 of that document :
For more information on HPE iLO licensing, please refer to the HPE iLO Licensing Guide at http://www.hpe.com/support/iLOLicenseGuide-en.
Edit: Link seems down for me - but then this is HP's support website, so it's full of links that don't work anyway.
