Re: VMWARE ESX and P212

It doesn't actually allow me to press F8. It takes an age to initialise. I have a ML150

Re: VMWARE ESX and P212

I noticed that the firmware on the p212 was only 1.52 so I looked on the website and the firmware is upto 2.

So I thought I would install latest firmware, followed instructions. When the server tries to boot from the USB stick. It complains and tells me I need that particular firmware cd

Re: VMWARE ESX and P212

After reading through this thread again, are you positive the drives are attached to a P212? If there is a P212 in the system, during POST the card should show it's firmware revision and how many logical drives are configured and provide the F8 option to create/edit/change the array configuration. What option are you seeing at POST to configure the RAID settings?

According to the Quickspecs, the ML150 G6 shipped in two basic configurations. If using non-hotplug SATA drives the standard controller is the embbeded SATA RAID controller (Now called the Smart Array B110i). If the drives are hot-plugable SAS or SATA drives, the shipping controller is a Smart Array P410

The P212 is a supported option, but once added the drive cables need to be moved from the embedded SATA RAID controller to the P212.

The embeeded SATA controller will present the disks to the OS as two seperate disks if the driver isn't loaded, even if the RAID function is enabled in the BIOS.

If there is indeed a P212 in the system, the link Mark provided above is just for a supplemental firmware update file, you need the Firmware Maintenance CD to actually use it.

Firmware v2.72 supplement is the latest for the P212

To use HP Smart Update Manager on the Firmware Maintenance CD version 8.40 and later:

-Place the Firmware Maintenance CD on a USB key using the HP USB Key Creator Utility.
- Place the desired firmware to be updated in the directory, /compaq/swpackages on the USB key.
- Boot from the newly created Firmware Maintenance USB key.
- Follow HP Smart Update Manager steps to complete firmware update.

I haven't tried using the Firmware Maintenance CD on a 100 series ProLiant so I'm not 100% positive it will run. It's been to long since I've ran the easy-setup CD that comes with the 100 series systems to remember if it will do firmware updates using the supplemental files.

Re: VMWARE ESX and P212

I purchased the p212 separately, both disks are attached to the card.

I followed the instuctions with the 8.60 firmware update CD, but it told me that the system need firmware update CD 7.40b

So is there any wheree I can download that.

Otherwise I am going to send the card back

Re: VMWARE ESX and P212

How did you originally configure the RAID? can you provide a screenshot showing the current RAID configuration?
