Vibration Tolerance; Does HP test outcome of vibration on it's servers?
Does anyone know if HP tests it's blades (or any other equipment)to see what it's tolerance to external vibration is? The vibrations I refer to are those of normally operating A/C units in a data center.
Is there a white paper or any other documentation I can refer to?
Thanks, Janet

Re: Vibration Tolerance; Does HP test outcome of vibration on it's servers?
Janet,
the only reference I found in my docs is in the site preparation section:
"Vibration
Continuous vibration can cause a degradation of mechanical parts. Vibration can cause
data losses on disc drives. Mechanical connections on printed circuit assemblies,
connectors, cables, and backplane wiring can also be adversely affected by vibration.
If you suspect that vibration may be a problem at your computer site, contact your
Hewlett-Packard CE or local sales office for assistance."
and in reference to cabinets:
Vibration Requirements:
Operating Random (5-500Hz) Approx 0.21 G rms
Sinusoidal Sweep Survival (5-500Hz) 0.5 g (0 peak)
Random survival (5-500Hz) Approx 2.09 G rms
Shock Requirements:
End Use Handling 10.20 cm (4.0 inch) Free-fall Drop
Transportation
30 g trapezoidal
(Delta velocity of 368.0 cm/sec)
