Virtual Floppy on Proliant DL380 G5 - iLO2

Hi,

When trying to make a new Proliant G5 boot on a virtual floppy via an image, I noticed that it loads it as the B: drive.

Subsequently when the server boots, it doesn't boot on the V floppy and loads the OS on the C: drive. BIOS settings show the A: drive as 2nd in the boot order but I think since the drive is B: it's being ignored.

There is no A: drive in the server, only a DVD drive but I did build the server with a USB floppy attached which reappears when re-attached when Windows 2003 is loaded.

Can anyone advise how to boot a new ilo2 server with a virtual floppy?

Thanks,

Update: Foudn that if you have a bootable CD in the DVD drive, it ignored the V floppy even if you don't "hit any key to boot from DVD".

I reckon only way around this situation is by moving the floppy boot sequence above the DVD like it was before it was "improved".

Hi, the server will try to boo first from the DVD, CD ROM, before trying to boot from the VFloppy, so as a solution you can take the CD out of the server when you want to boot from the VFloppy.
