W2000 on Proliant 800

Have a huge catch-22... I've installed the latest Compaq Bios, the latest SCSI bios, and have the latest Adaptec driver. When installing W2000, I get a Stop Error that names the SCSI driver that's loaded by diskette upon prompting by 2000.

So, I thought, let's just install the OS on IDE and use the Array for data but the Proliant won't see the IDE drive in the bios and, in fact, says that IDE can only be used as a Secondary Device and is not supported on this system... What??!??

Any ideas on either thing?

Thanx,
Stv

Correct you cannot used Harddisks on the IDE bus.. its for cdroms only...

What is the exact error you are seeing?

Are you using f6 to install the adaptec driver?

What adaptec controller?
