W2K not booting from RAID 1 w/1 disk missing
I've got several models of ProLiant servers running Windows 2000 on Smart Array controller based RAID 1 arrays. When I attempt to boot a system with one of the RAID 1 drives missing (removed for maintenance recovery), the systems stop booting with a missing files error. All systems were installed starting with a system erase and RAID 1 boot arrays configured during the system configuration.
Why will the ProLiant's not boot from a RAID 1 array with one of the disks missing? (it does not matter which disk has been pulled and I've selected to continue the boot process with the option to leave the logical drives active)

Re: W2K not booting from RAID 1 w/1 disk missing
you sure you did not selected F1 when it was rebooting??
this would disable the whole array until the drive is replaced.
Select F2 to disable just that drive and it will go in to interim recovery mode.

Re: W2K not booting from RAID 1 w/1 disk missing
oh! and also if the Array is still in the rebuild process then it might not work also..
you can normaly see the rebuild process in ACU.
