WON'T POWER ON

Trying to revive an old PL-1500 for a project. When retired, it worked fine, however; now it will not power on. When switched on, lights flash, fans spin and then the system is dead. After several seconds the lights flash and it goes dead again. This will continue as long as the switch is on. Examined all components and all "looks" well. Any ideas?

Re: WON'T POWER ON

what you are experiencing is called crowbarring..its an issue with the logic boards in the power supply...power supply needs to be changed

Re: WON'T POWER ON

I was afraid of that. Can I use a PS from a PL-1000?

Re: WON'T POWER ON

hard to say...IF it fits in the chassis and IF its power regulation and volatages are the same (label on side of power supply) and IF the pin outs to the system board are the same then I dont see why not...BUT keep in mind that IF there is any warranty left on this server which i dont think there is you would void it if the 1000's power supply fried anything
