Warnings then hard reboot on DL380 G6

I get a series of the following warnings on our DL380 G6.

Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Processor-Power
Date: 12/10/2009 8:22:37 PM
Event ID: 37
Task Category: (7)
Level: Warning
Keywords:
User: SYSTEM
Computer:
Description:
The speed of processor 6 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 4 seconds since the last report.

There's usually one for each processor core and then the system will reboot. Happens about once per day. Not sure what to do about this.

Re: Warnings then hard reboot on DL380 G6

hmmmmmm....willy..
this error eminates from from an INT call to the BIOS for processor functionality, and a response is being generated that your processor speeds are being limited from full capacity by the motherboard - but could be for for thermal reasons, or because there's some other issue and the processors are faulting.

but in our each case is doing it

from choose your os and proceed using these steps

so update to latest firmware, end insure you get the supplemental ilo driver and bmc driver too

ok so boot from maint enance cd ,
then insatll latest ilo firmware it is not on cd
then reboot and install this driver

Re: Warnings then hard reboot on DL380 G6

also specific to this server

under load expect reboots

but for now this is the solution
Reduced performance state is 0 seconds so It's not a error message.
If you don't want to receive this event then simply turn off its support in BIOS.
1. Enter BIOS by pressing F9 on POST
2. Navigate to "Power Management Options" => "Advanced Power Management Options" => "Minimum Processor Idle Power State"
3. Choose "No C-States

also ensure ilo firmware and management driver are both updated and server rebooted
