Warranty - lightning strike

Does anyone know if the standard HP 3 year warranty covers a server that was "destroyed" from a lightning strike. Basically the server will not power up at all (and iLO is dead). I understand it is probably our fault for not properly protecting it (surge protector, etc.) - but I am wondering if HP would support it anyways.

Thanks
Nelson

Re: Warranty - lightning strike

IMHO the clear answer is no. Ask your insurance company.

Hope this helps!

Re: Warranty - lightning strike

hi Nelson,

page 3 of the standard limited warranty document here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/c-products/servers/warranty/392512_APD_GB.pdf

confirms that it does not cover damage as the result of an accident, other external causes, or improper site preparation.

Darn the fine print!

Much to my chagrin, it is not supported.
