What does "Error recovery is disabled on the system. The device is no longer operational" say?

What does "Error recovery is disabled on the system. The device is no longer operational" say?

We have seen a failing FlexFabric NIC. After a restart of the HP server, we see some messages in the system eventlog. First an error (be2net 10): HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLR-SFP+ Adapter #2 : The network device detected an error.

But 2 seconds after this error, we see something interesting: a warning (be2net 44): HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLR-SFP+ Adapter #2 : Error recovery is disabled on the system. The device is no longer operational.

What exactly is this error recovery, and how can we enable it?

Hi,

I think its some thing to do with the Drivers or Firmware of the FlexFabric.  Download the latest drivers/firmware for 554FLR-SFP+

Error recovery is disabled on the system. The device is no longer operational.

Thanks for your reply.

The links you refer to indeed show the message as I have seen it. But it doesn't make clear what actually is meant. What is this "error recovery" and how can I enable it? My questions are not answered yet.

Stephan.
