Check the documentation if the controller is supported in this slot.

Possibly no impact.

 

Depending on how the OS identifies the LUNs attached and wether or not there are multiple Smart Arrays in the system there could be a PCI bus enumeration issue and the system wouldn't boot.

it's Proliant DL380 Gen 9 RMS with 16disks, and I am trying to install an inhouse modified version of RHEL
