What is Integrated Lights Out?

I have an ML server which does not have this. What does it do exactly please (I don't actually quite get it from it's manual description)?

Its an embedded management system.

You can check system information.

You can check server hardware errors in the logs.

You can mount virtual media.

You can change power options.

With an ilo advanced license you can take remote controll of your server - very important at remote sites.

So I need it in addition to the Support Pack and Array management s/w?

If at some point you want to remotely connect to console/serial of this machine - yes, it is really valuable. If you always have the server nearby with a monitor plugged in - perhaps not so necessary unless there's a problem. Is quite good for troubleshooting.
