What is the best practice with updating VMware HP-ESXi-5.1.0-standard installed on a host?

Have DL360p Gen8 servers installed with HP's custom ESXi 5.1 image ISO.

What is the best practice for updating / patching this going forward.

I come across some VIB depots on hp.com I added this as a Custom URL through VMware Update Manager and a number of packages appear. How should I proceed from here?

BTW:

I am familiar with the VMware ESXi 5.1 and using VMware Update Manager stream to patch my other servers.

I'm interested too as we're in the process of deploying on 360p and 380p G8 systems. I'm uncertain whether updates should be applied from HP or from VMware -- and what using HP's custom ESXi image to install buys over using the stock -- is it that hpacucli and other utils are preinstalled?
