I would go with Gen9, which is latest.

Hi,

the DL380e Gen8 can only be compared to a DL180 Gen9.

In Gen8 HP there were no 100-series products.

The old G6 and G7 100-series products were simply called 300-series "E".

The old G6 and G7 300-series products were simply called 300-series "P".

However, the DL180 Gen9 is superior to a DL380e Gen8

because it has new features and uses a E5-26xx processor instead of a E5-24xx.

Also have a look at the RAID controller.

The 14x is a SW/FW solution.

The 44x is a hardware solution (better performance / sas support / more features).
