Which server to run on Windows 2003 Ent & Oracle 9i DB

Greetings,
Hi i need to upgrade the hardware of my current Oracle 9i DB server. I am looking at the following proliant server,
1) HP DL380G5 with 2 Xeon Processor, 4GB RAM
8 SAS harddisk running on 2 separate array controller card
2) HP Integrity rx2620 with 2 Itanium processor and 4GB RAM
8 SAS harddisk running on 2 separate array controller card

I am not too familiar with Integrity server class thus is not sure how well it will perform. Can any please advise which option 1) or 2) is better to run my Oracle DB server?

As for installing 2 separate controller card, can i do so with either of the proliant server? I remember that there is only 1 backplan in DL380G4 model, so i am not quite sure whether i can install 2 array controller and direct Disk 1 & 2 to use controller 1 and Disk 3 - 8 to use controller 2.

Need to do so to separate Oralce Log + OS and Data files into 2 separate harddisk so as to enhance performance and disk access.

My last concern, is on the best way to backup the data. I am thinking of using external LTO tape drive to backup the data (currently is about 50GB, expected to increase 30GB every year). But is quite concern on the speed of the backup. Will using NAS/SDLT have a faster backup rate than LTO?

Appreciate your advise. Thanks

DL380G5 no duplex options
DL380G4 should have duplex option for two controllers (or channels)

what you using now ?

Re: Which server to run on Windows 2003 Ent & Oracle 9i DB

Hi Oleg, thanks for your reply and link. I am configuring this server for my Oracle 9i DB. I will be running Windows 2003 Ent Server.

I may go for ML370G5 server instead, as i figure i may need more harddisk in the future. Beside, i am able to configure 2 different Raid set with 2 different controller card in this server, much easily. I just need to get a drive cage kit.

My company is not preparing to pay for the Integrity server so i have stick to Proliant Server.

Thanks
