Win 2008 R2 on DL585 G1
I had to install W 2008 R2 on DL585 G1 (4x AMD 2.6GHz, 12 GB ram, Smart Array 5i Controller). I tried with SmartStart 8.30 for x64. The process starts correctly but when the real installation of the OS begins, I receive a message that says that there're no HDs. Then I tried w\out SmartStart loading via USB the drivers for the controller. The controller is correctly recognized, partitions appear to be created (even if is not created the partition of 100 MB for recovery files), but when i press NEXT to continue system says that isn't able to create a partition and the installation process stops.
I opened a case on Business Support Center (29 oct 2009) but no response.
Can anyone have an idea ?
Thanks !

Re: Win 2008 R2 on DL585 G1
I found the solution, I had loaded 2 G1 servers with 2008 R2 no problem then I blew everything out and could not get them to reload. After a week of racking my brain I remembered the servers had 2003 R2 on them, I did not blow out the array the first time just booted to the 2008 R2 x64 disk. So I used the smartstart disk 7.90 set it up for 2003 R2 put in the 2003 disk rebooted to set up 2003 server created the disk and formatted, rebooted to 2008 R2 x64 then when prompted installed the array drivers from a floppy and voila I have a new drive ready to install 2008 R2! works like a champ just build the disk in 2003, kill the install and load 2008 R2 and add the Array drivers downloaded from HP!
