Win 2K server and Compaq CDU701-Q

I have a Proliant 800 and was running Win NT 4/0. When I upgraded to Win2K server (By formatting and installing a fresh OS) I no longer am able to use my cd-rom (Model CDU701-Q). The OS detects it, but I get an error (Code 31). I also noticed that last I checked, it was not in the compatibility table for 2K. Does this mean that my two year old server's cd-rom is useless now? Please help!
