I was rebuilding a ML370 Gen1 server using SmartStart 5.5. I have 2 9Gb drives I have set up as a Raid 1+0 array. The array shows up as a little less then 9 Gb. Then during the Smart Start interview it asks me for the partition size, I select the whole 9Gb array and chose to format it with NTFS. After that, SmartStart formats the partition. The problem is when Windows 2000 Server starts loading it must be repartitioning and reformatting the drive. When I log into the server, Windows it only shows the Boot partition as 4Gb and the other 4Gb as unallocated space.
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Also is there any way to merge the unused space with the boot partition. I tried Partition Magic 8.0, but when I booted off of the diskettes it said it would not run on servers.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Dave

There are a couple of differences but the recommended solution is the same = do the manual install workaround.
Note: The ML370 (G1) does support the latest SmartStart 7.0 CD (if you do upgrade your CD). But NOT to do an assisted OS install (cannot boot from this CD).
For the SmartStart subscription service (or just to order a single CD), see this web page:

Re: Windows 2000 4Gb boot partition
You won't be able to build your system with 6.0 SmartStart but I have seen some folks overcoming the partition size limitation by using third party utility like ServerMagic. Otherwise like Terry mentioned you will have to do the manual installation.

Re: Windows 2000 4Gb boot partition
I was able to use BootItNG to correct the partition size. Next time I will select manual in Smartstart or use a later ver.
Thanks again,
Dave
