Wipe ProLiant Disks/Arrays??

I'm looking for a program that will wipe the data from SCSI disks connected to ProLiant array controllers. Ideally it would boot from a floppy or CD, detect all array controllers, and wipe the data from all drives connected to those controllers. The wipe process should include writing a pattern to each byte of the drive and ideally be DoD 5220.22 compliant.

I dont know if the System Erase Utility is DoD compliant but it is easily used and known to make the dives clean to rebuild on.

John, Thanks for this information. I downloaded Killdisk and while it looks like an excellent solution in many cases it will not detect drives connected to an array controller that are not part of a configured logical drive. It does detect the virtual drives presented by the array controller. My particular situation is that I have ProLiant servers being decommissioned and installed drives may or may not be part of a configured array. The utility I seek would likely be ProLiant/Smart Array specific and would detect and erase drives regardless of their configuraton status.

I also looked at Zdelete which works on top of Windows and is not a viable solution in this situation.

Well... I was only partially kidding in the response about the "Big Magnet"; but, around here, we have a magnet that came off of a Radar system which has a wierd pattern. It weighs about 20 lbs and it is wonderfull for wiping drives. A bit difficult to move around but once attached to a drive, nothing survives.

This might not help much but we are in fact using a commercial degausser to wipe clean all magnetic media. Quite effective.

All drives that were degaussed by this device needed to be low-level formatted to be reused.

You can even rent these degaussers.
