Re: Won't Boot
Try looking at the mini-backplane , make sure there are no bent pins , broken connectors , if you had to remove the processor brd and/or system brd to install the tape drive .

Re: Won't Boot
I purchased the 2500 2nd-hand a month ago and i'm sure it was in working order. I delivered bought it home and didn't switch it on until today.
I connected a monitor, keyboard and mouse to it, then powered it up.
All i get is a flash of lights on the hard disks and a continous flashing light on the tape drive. The fans are working and the power light is on. I get no signal on the monitor (I changed the monitor just in case but I still get the problem). There are no error beeps.
The only thing I can think of is that the server was in a slightly damp environment for a few days. But it has been at room temperature for over two weeks now.
Any ideas please ... I'm also feeling VERY stuck!!??

Re: Won't Boot
I now have two servers which refuse to boot! The 2500 and the 4500. The disks power-up and spin, the fans are working but I get nothing on the monitor.
Have the technicians diagnosed your problem? Was it one of the boards? Please drop me an e-mail to let me know (through this forum). I need to get these servers up and running asap but haven't heard anything from compaq tech support through this forum yet.
Many thanks
Dee

Re: Won't Boot
One other thing to check; will the CDROM drawer open? If it doesn't the problem is most likely related to the connectors on the mini backplane discussed earlier.

Re: Won't Boot
I am about to post another message in the 4500 forum regarding a similiar problem. The system powers-up, the array powers-up and initialises, the CD-Rom tray works but I get nothing on the montitor. I believe it could just be the onboard graphics connecter but I'm concerned that the disks don't have any activity (read/write) once they have initialised. Any ideas??
