Write endurance on RAID 1 with two different size SSD

I have a RAID 1 with 2 120Gb SSD on a DL360 G9. One of the SSD have to be replace because it is complaining “SSD is approaching the maximum usage limit for writes (wear out) and should be replaced immediately”. I have a 200Gb SSD that will replace the old 120Gb SSD. I want to ask if the write endurance will increase on the 200Gb HDD considering that it will use only 120Gb of the capacity.

Re: Write endurance on RAID 1 with two different size SSD

IMHO in theory yes, because it always has plenty of free space.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for reply.

Do I need to make any special setup to increase the endurance or just replace the old HDD with the new bigger one.

Re: Write endurance on RAID 1 with two different size SSD

If you replace a 120GB SSD with 200GB SSD in a RAID 1, only 120GB will be used.

The built-in controller of the SDD will ensure to use all the space and prevent hot-spots, however the usable space will be 120GB.

Hope this helps!
