adding raid-5 and smp

We have compaq proliant 1600 with 3x18GB RAID-5 and one p3-550MHz. We currently running Redhat Linux 6.2 on that. We are going to add another 3x18GB RAID-5 and another p3-550MHz. What should I do before Redhat Linux 6.2 start to boot up?

Re: adding raid-5 and smp

For linux 6.2 to recognize multiple processors, you'll need to recompile the kernel (or obtain an smp kernel) - it's okay to add the processor, then tailor the kernel.

Just a note: SMP doesn't support any kind of APM/pwr management. Be sure to disable Power Management in the system setup, and remove it from your kernel.
