additional CD added to proliant ML530G2

we had a problem with the built-in CD right from the start. It reads some Cds, but in many cases read errors occur.

we tried to replace it, but didn't phisically reach it (too hard to access it)

so we added another IDE CD drive in the removable media bay, connected to the secondary IDE (non-bootable)

upon reboot (linux - fedora) it is recognized, but it is assigned the same device as the original one (hda) - both being present. Only the first one is accessed when I mount hda.

I placed the jumper on the new one as SLAVE with no result.

Does any of you have any ideea how to use 2 CDs - what and where to change? Thanks

for the CD readeer installation...
I think it's necessary you access to the first cd readeer in order to verify its setting.

when you install two reader or writer or mixed, both must to be set as "cable select" or one master and the other slave.

if the configuration it's different from the two explained the reader/writer will not work.
