another addition to this post
so if i understand this correctly, there are two generations of proliant server, gen. I and II. since my server runs at 333, i have a gen I system correct?
for me to upgrade to a processor 550 or 600 i will need a new system board which is the motherboard. also the memory will need to be changed also.
also mentioned in this forum, a part number was referenced regarding the 100mhz gtl bus and sdram (179766-b21). is this what i need?

Re: another addition to this post
thanks for the response.
is replacing the system board, memory, and cpu will give me the 600mhz i am looking for?
is this all i need to replace?
does the new system board just pop right in without any "modifications".
thanks again for your help !

Re: another addition to this post
System board, processors, VRM-s and RAM to be replaced, the rest stays. The new board is a perfect fit in place of the old one.
