bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

NIC3 shows as disabled in BIOS and for the life of me I cannot find where to enable it. I am not sure if it just got disabled somehow or if it went bad. This is a new server...

Can anyone lend assistance?
Thank you!

Re: bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

What generation of Blade20p is this? And what kind of patch panels or interconnect switches do you have installed for the given Blade enclosure?
And are you using an enhanced enclosure (which has its own iLo port?)

Re: bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

Karl,
Looks like you called in a are getting this issue resolved. I was suspecting you had the original blade enclosure. The original enclosure does not have a dedicated iLo so the end result is the blade server can use only 3 or 4 NICs for networking connectivity. But this is not the issue in your case - you did get the enhanced enclosure.

Re: bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

G3 with original (standard) you loose only #4 (used by ilo) 1,2,3 still active, where 1,2 A side and 3 and ILO is B side; for enhanced all 4 NIC active.

Update Bios if needed
Reset NIC controller
Pull out if FC card used
Erase NVRAM from System ROM

Re: bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

Yea to enable from BIOS is simply form PCI devices just change from Disabled to IRQ x
When you do erase NVRAM it take to default all 4 enabled

Re: bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

Thanks for the responses! Tried erase the NV and it still does not even show up in the list of PCI devices. They are sending a tech out.

Thank you!

Re: bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

I have this exact same problem (also with NIC3). This causes teaming to fail (cant even activate it. I dont know of Karl his problem has been solved, but if it is, can someone share the solution here ?

Re: bl20p NIC shows as disabled in BIOS

Remco,

The solution ended up being to have HP come out and replace the NIC controller. After that everything worked great!
