bl45p with msa1000 wondows cluster

I am having a lot of difficulty getting the clustered msa1000 with dual 45ps to allow for the cluster to work correctly. the failover doesn't work. We have switchs installed instead of the high availability kit on the msa unit. I noticed there are lights on the back of the switchs that are either green/green or green/orange. Wondered if that was relavent to this situation. Suggestions?
