blank screen after login

We have 2 HP DL580 G5 windows 2003 R2 SP2 Enterprise, that are having this problem. If we login to the server after it has been running for 10+ hours we get a blank screen after our login prompts are entered. we cannot access the server with RDP or local login. we have to reboot the system to get it work correctly and then it only works for another 10+ hours before it happenes again. any ideas?

HP has had reinstall the network drivers and disable RSS and TCP Offload in the registry.

None of these have worked for us.

appears to only affect x32 version we are running windows 2003 R2 SP2 x64.

We do how ever have those NIC's in the servers.

we have a NC373i teamed with a NC360T

I will check and see what kind Im sure they are Cisco, It is in managed datacenter so Ill have to ask.

I was told by HP proliant support not to apply the hotfix but I could apply the registry entries whic I had done but this didn't help our blank screen after login issue.

hi

let me see when you say you login to the server you mean locally

you enter user/pass and after that a black screen? like that? or you mean using RDP?

the other things are up to date? proliant support pack 8.0 and FW CD 8.1

Yes, both login on locally, through ILO, and RDP all have same results.

This didn't happen until I upgraded all the firmware from 8.1 and updated to Smart Start 8.0.

I tried to downgrade and didn't fix anything so I updated and verified all drivers, still no good.

So I just want to be confident that we wonâ t have same issues if we rebuild from scratch and try reapplying the FW 8.1 and SS8.0 again.

yes I don't think if you rebuild the machine you will have the issue again

But I fact for real this is a weird issue.

since your are thinking to rebuild machine why not first apply the hotfix from microsoft that juan quesada told you you have nothing to loss

- and maybe clear NVRAM

I applied it to one of ther servers and didn't resolve the issue.

Then I talked to HP support and they said to uninstall that hotfix that it didn't work with HP servers.

our Managed Datacenter is still going through the rebuild process.
