boot blade servers from SAN

I have a HP ProLiant BL460c Server and I would like to know where can I find docs on how I can boot from SAN.

Re: boot blade servers from SAN

Hi, you can find the main document here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00580093/c00580093.pdf
In that ducument there are links to others, for each operating system.

Basically, you need to configure your SAN so there's a path from the blade to the storage device. Then configure the storage device so it shows some LUNs to the blade.
When the server is booting, press Control-Q or Alt-E to enter the fiber channel card configuration. There you must set a few parameters and choose from which LUN the server should boot.

Re: boot blade servers from SAN

I mean you have to configure the zoning on the SAN switches, so the ports of the blade can see the ports on the storage device.
A SAN course is too long to explain here...
