burn in" test or "stess test"

Hi all,

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question so please let me know if I am in the wrong place.

Some time ago I saw someone doing what they described as a "burn in" test or "stess test" on a new server that had just been built. What this did is write data to the disks and memory blocks etc and basically give the machine a bit of a thrashing like it was in production.

So how can I do this on HP Intergrity RX2600 (Itanium 2) server for 72 hours? This machine already running RedHat Lunux Advance Server release 2 AS version.
