cannot load cpqarray

I had problem when installing Netware 4.11 onto a new ML370 with a Smart Array 431 controller. Netware cannot load driver cpqarray with error "cannot find public symbol: NPA_....". Any idea ?

Re: cannot load cpqarray

During the 4.11 installation, uninstall ALL discovered drivers (ie deselect the network & disk drivers). Switch to the console & load nwpa.nlm (this must be version 2.3a, not the version on latest smartstart). Then load cpqshd.cdm (version 1.22, again not the one on the shipped smartstart CD). Switch back to netware 4.11 installation & load the scsihd.cdm driver from the list provided & the cpqarray driver (this time the one on the latest smartstart CD). Install the appropriate network driver. Then continue with the installation. The cpqarray should now load properly. I'm not sure if earlier version of these disk drivers will work, but if you use the versions above everthing should be OK
I have the above NLM's, if you require them.

Re: cannot load cpqarray

could you please send me the NLMs also? I'm installing 4.11 on ML370.
do you know if the drivers can be found on any of the older versions of SmartStart CD? I have v4.23, 4.40 and 4.80. Thanks for the help

Re: cannot load cpqarray

Can you PLEASE send nwpa.nlm "(this must be version 2.3a, not the version on latest smartstart)". Also, "cpqshd.cdm (version 1.22, again not the one on the shipped smartstart CD)."

I would really really really appreciate it.

Re: cannot load cpqarray

I have exactly the same thing with Smart Array 5300 and Netware 4.11. Could you please send me the older files; nwpa.nlm v2.3a and cpqshd.cdm v1.22. Many Thanks, Pete pcdl@bas.ac.uk

Re: cannot load cpqarray

Another way - using the latest drivers

Manual install of Netware 4.11 on a Compaq
ML370 with Smart Array 5300 controller.

make directory on DOS partition MKDIR C:\NWUPDATE

In the following steps, if you are asked to confirm overwrites,
answer 'yes' or 'yes to all.'

Insert the SmartStart and Support Software CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive (E:)

Copy E:\CPQSUPSW\NSSD\NETWORK\*.* C:\NWUPDATE\*.*
Copy E:\CPQSUPSW\NSSD\IDE\3X_4X\*.* C:\NWUPDATE\*.*
Copy E:\CPQSUPSW\NSSD\NWPA\*.* C:\NWUPDATE\*.*
Copy E:\CPQSUPSW\NSSD\NWPA\4X\*.* C:\NWUPDATE\*.*
Del C:\NWUPDATE\SCSIHD.*

Insert the NetWare 4.11 Operating System CD.
Type E:\INSTALL

After the hardware detection finishes, we don't want the
automatically detected drivers, so

a) At the Driver Summary screen, press to reach the server console.
b) At the server console, type ?load C:\NWUPDATE\NWPA.NLM?.
c) At the server console, type ?load C:\NWUPDATE\CPQSHD.CDM?.

m) Answer Yes to the Load Additional Drivers question and select any remaining drivers as required for your hardware.
n) Select Continue Installation.
o) At the Driver Summary screen, choose Select additional or modify selected Disk/LAN drivers
