cd writer not recognized

I run win nt 4.0 w sp6a on proliant 400,one scsi drive,scsi tape.when i tried to instal cd writer ricoh 7125a the system did not recognized it.in setup,ide devices it is recognized as ide device on primary cont.in settings,cont.panel,scsi adapters there is no sign of some ide controler.
