Hello
I'd thank if anybody could help me:
I have a HP Proliant ML350 Intel Xeon CPU 2,4 Ghz bought in 2004, with controller HP Smart Array 641and two discs HP Ultra 320 SCSI 72,8GB 10K, Model Number: BD07285A25, in RAID 1 configuration
recently one of the discs failed and I need to replace it,
I would like to know if the new disc has to be identical or I can replace it for one of similar characteristics, I have one disc HP Ultra 320 SCSI 72,8GB 15K, Model Number: BF0728496
I don't want to try and to be in a trouble if the server stop working
Thanks

SolutionYou can use the one that you have, however the speed will be scaled down to 10k rpm, ideally you should be using exactly the same specs so that you can fully utilize the rpm of the hard drive, but if you already have an option you can use it , it is just that 15k will work at 10k . I dont think it will create any issues.

Re: change disc in RAID1. Does it have to be identical discs?
Ok
I'll try then (before I shall make a backup) and I'll post the result
Thank you
