changing disk sizes under Win NT

I am setting up a Compaq Proliant ML370 with Win NT for the first time. (I had a different os on it untill today). During the installation when it checks for my hard drives it tells me about the 1024k limit of dos.
I am running a raid containing 4 hard drives of 9gb each. However when setting up NT it is only telling me I have 1024 x 4 = 4096mb. How do I get NT to see the rest of the drive space? Will that become available when I install service pack 4?
Please note I am new to NT server software so treat me like a newbee and explain in simple terms.

Thanks all
Antony

Re: changing disk sizes under Win NT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Antony,

1) The size of the boot partition generated by Windows NT setup is limited to 4 gigabytes
Boot Partition Created During Setup Limited to 4 Gigabytes
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/119497/EN-US/
Windows NT 4.0 Large HDD Information.
http://nt4ref.zcm.com.au/bigdisk.htm

If you format your RAID BEFORE NT installation - limit will be 7.8 Gb

2) NT4 is very old OS, why you still use it ?

Re: changing disk sizes under Win NT

Im using it because I dont have any other server software except linux and I am trying to learn more about using a server before spending money on new software for it.

thanks

Re: changing disk sizes under Win NT

Thanks to Igor's post with the references to Microsofts database I have solved this issue. The answer was for me to install service pack 6a which allowed me to use the disk management software in NT to access the rest of the drive space.
Cheers

Antony
