Re: clean w2K install on ml370 - need drivers for 431 array
Hi,
After lots of tries and finally got it successfully installed. Just like to share with all how.
First of all, must upgrade the system bios. This can be found in
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17423.html
Next, download the firmware maintenance CD, found from
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/subscription/ssdownloads.asp
Burnt the ISO file into a CD. It's a bootable CD. Boot from the CD and update the ROM flash offline for Smart Array 431 Controller.
Start the server from the SmartStart CD. I am using version 5.4. Perform an erase on the System Utility. Reboot the server again with the SmartStart CD still inside. A configuration wizard to guide you through the rest of the setup.
Hope these information helps.
Remember to update all drivers again from
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1119.html#58
Cheers,
Agnes

Howdy Agnes,
I'm glad to hear that you were able to get it working. Enjoy W2K.

Re: clean w2K install on ml370 - need drivers for 431 array
Thank you, Thank you thank you, i started my task on friday evening, a 'simple' hard drive upgrade and now on Sunday afternoon i am only getting anywhere.
I am running 3 seagate 36Gb HDD's on a Compaq(comkak)ML 370 800Mhz Server.
When i booted off Windows Server 2000, after installing all this smartstart stuff about 38 times, it would not recognise the Scsi controller and give me a 'no hard disks found' error.
although windows 2003 Server found the drivers.
after finding this article and downloading the windows 2000\2003 server drivers for the scsi controller within 10 minutes i was ready to kiss the screen!

Re: clean w2K install on ml370 - need drivers for 431 array
Hello all
I have similar problem.
I have ML350 with 4 disks 18GB SCA pluged to SmartArray431.
When i try to install W2K Server automatic (or manual) with SmartStart5.50, instalation hangs (anyway it looks like hang) when i finish configuring my arrays.
I configure 2 mirrors (disk 0 & 1, and disk 2 & 3) and when i click finish mouse icon change and all diodes blinking on all disks (on disk 0 disk led flash constantly rest leds blinks). I found info in internet then disk remirrors at this time and it can take some time. But i wait long time (many hours) and nothing change...
All bios are upgraded to last version from firmware CD.
What wrong i do ??
