connecting virtual power button cable in 1850R for RiLO I

Hi, does anyone have any information on how to connect the virtual power button cable from the RiLO card to a Proliant 1850R? The documentation provided is a bit confusing. Do I use the split 4-pin cable (P/N: 162816-001) or the 16-pin cable(P/N: 177634-001)?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

You use the 4 pin cable...

See this matrix...

Hi Stephen, thanks for the information. One last question. The split 4-pin cable which comes in the RiLO kit; I understand that 1 end will need to be connected to the RiLO card, however, it is the split ends that puzzles me. I am unable to find any system board documentation that states where I can connect the 4 power pushbutton connectors to in the server.

Does anyone have any information for this?

Yes.

First, you unplug the 2 wires from the REAL power button on the server. The take the virtual PB cable - plug 2 of those leads into the REAL PB. The take the original power cable and plug it into the 2 left-over wires on the 4-pin cable.

That sounds confusing - but it is what has to be done.
