device error

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I need to use the USB port on a Proliant 1600. It is running Windows 2000. The device manager reports that the USB port is not operational. The error is Can not Start (Code 10). The device is Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller.

The drivers are listed as uhcd.ssy, usbd.sys, usbhub.sys and usbui.dll. Is there a newer or different driver that will allow this port to operate? "

I understand there is no USB port in the 1600. The previous message from another user describes the error I got as soon as I installed server 2000. What service pack do I need to take care of this?
Thanks, G.

Re: device error

A service pack isn't the answer.

I've got a PL1600 and it doesn't have USB ports so something isn't right. Does your server have USB ports, either integrated or on a PCI card?

Re: device error

None -- no cards, factory configuration.

Re: device error

Then the obvious answer is that you will need to purchase and install a PCI add-on card with USB ports. You can't load drivers for a device that doesn't exist in your system.
