display problem of p212 card

Hi , I have a card is p212/256MB

I connect it both internal and external. but the display of list physical drives confused me .

I have 6 drive connected internal, and 1 drive connected external.

Smart Array P212 in Slot 1

Array A

physicaldrive 1I:1:9 (port 1I:box 1:bay 9, SATA HDD, 4 TB, OK)

Array B

physicaldrive 1I:1:11 (port 1I:box 1:bay 11, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)

Array C

physicaldrive 1I:1:8 (port 1I:box 1:bay 8, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)

Array D

physicaldrive 1I:1:10 (port 1I:box 1:bay 10, SATA HDD, 4 TB, OK)

Array E

physicaldrive 1I:1:13 (port 1I:box 1:bay 13, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)

Array F

physicaldrive 2E:1:1 (port 2E:box 1:bay 1, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)

Array G

physicaldrive 2E:1:9 (port 2E:box 1:bay 9, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)
physicaldrive 2E:1:9 (port 2E:box 1:bay 9, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)

look at array G, why it mark an internal drive as an external drive, and repeat once again.

Re: display problem of p212 card

Obviously this is external:

Array F

physicaldrive 2E:1:1 (port 2E:box 1:bay 1, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)

Array G

physicaldrive 2E:1:9 (port 2E:box 1:bay 9, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)
physicaldrive 2E:1:9 (port 2E:box 1:bay 9, SATA HDD, 6 TB, OK)

This means 5 internal, 2 external... ?

You can see the 2E connection, the external port.

What type of external chassis do you have and how is the cabling?

What server model?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: display problem of p212 card

it's why I said the display is error, but I don't know why.

as I mentioned there are 6 drives internal, and 1 drive conntected external.

the drive in array G should be an internal drive, which located 1I:1:1 (left/top first bay of the drive cage), however, it displays as an external drive.

the external classis is a jbod, connected by external sas cable.

the server is dl180g6.
