dl 320 g4 config

I am trying to install an windows 2003 on a dl 320 g4. The server has 2 SATA drives. I have enable SATA Raid gone into SATA config and created a single array with the 2 drives mirrored.

When I run SmartStart 7.8 it does not recognize any controllers, if I try to install straight from Windows cd it doesn't see any drives. How do I configure this? I want 2 partitions but do not see where to configure this. SmartStart isn't so smart with this server:-)

Thanks for any pointers

Re: dl 320 g4 config

hi

i think you have this controller
HP embedded 2 Port SATA Controller with RAID 0/1 support ?

so smartstart cd does not support that controller only smart array controller like 6i, e200, ...

you you need to press F6 when windows installation refers to press F6 this is because you need to install the driver for the controller manually (using i floppy, let me know if you dont have floppy... so will need use nlite)

this is the one you need

"I did the whole job using the freeware Nlite (http://www.nliteos.com/download.html). I created a customized CD installer and included the SATA drivers in it.

The complete description is on my blog, but only in french: http://zebrablog.net/hilitec/index.php/2006/06/24/17-personnaliser-le-contenu-d-un-cd-d-installation-de-windows-2000-xp-2003

Re: dl 320 g4 config

hi

I had a Server with that controller (Intel 82801GR SATA RAID) but I did not have problems installing it I mean Windows had the drivers this is because I got almost crazy looking for the driver without try install windows first

after that I realized windows had the drivers
just was installing well who cares...jeje

see the attached file about nlite
also try with the usb floppy(if that does not work it because usually the recommendation is to use an usb floppy - hp branded -)

regards I hope this can help you
