dl160 g6 and interenl cable sas

I've a DL160 G6 Server (590160-412 with 4-3.5 inch HDD hot-plug) with a separate optional SmartArray P212 Controller Card.
the SAS internal cable server (490537-001) is to
short to connect the disk backplane and smart array P212.

what's the code or PN. of the cable length correct?
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,
I guess, you are looking for this cable
HP Mini SAS to Mini SAS 28in Cable Assembly 496013-B21
or
HP Mini SAS to Mini SAS 33in Cable Assembly 496014-B21

this is from Smart array p212 controller quickspecs.

share your feedback if this is helpful

thanks,

Are those single drive cables or multi-drive cage cables? Disk backplane usually requires a single to four multi-drive connection cable for SAS.

Re: dl160 g6 and interenl cable sas

Hi Michael,

its DL160 G6 hotplug model with 4 3.5 inch drives.

the best way to identify the correct cable.. check the connector type on both end (backplane and controller)

Check the page 53 to identify backplane connector
http://www.dectrader.com/docs/set1/c01728029.pdf

SAS hotplug backplane has 4 connector
Power connector
PROG connector
I2C connector
Mini SAS connector

Now open the specs for P212 controller and identify connector type.
It has two connector
SAS Connectors 1 internal/1 external (Mini-SAS) x8 wide port connectors

So you need a SAS cable which has mini sas connector both end.

hope this helps,
thanks

Re: dl160 g6 and interenl cable sas

I just know I had to get special cables to connect a LSI Logic MegaRAID 8708EM2 to a Supermicro SAS and SCSI enclosures. My current 8708EM2 configuration has 80 pin SCA 15K SAS drives directly connected to the 8708EM2. Finding the correct SAS cables was not fun and they were expensive, $105 each.
