dl180 g6 unexpected restart - 2 servers

We are running 2 servers (dl 180 g6), with windows server 2003 enterprise edition. Both servers have similar configuration, one has domain controller role (server 1) while server 2 is Mail Server.

Today a really unsual event happened as follows:

• at 1:40 AM CET server 1 unexpectly restarted (time reported by Event Viewer / System)
• at 2:03 AM CET server 2 unexpectly restarted (time reported by Event Viewer / System)

In event viewer of both servers same events existed prior to resart, as follows:

• Power Supply 1 is removed (1:29 for server 1, 1:53 for server 2)
• Power supply 2 is removed (1:29 for server 1, 1:53 for server 2)

Please help me to find out the RCA of this issue.

Hi,

Are these two servers connected to same power source? if YES, just check the external power source/UPS if that might be causing the problem.

Have you tried to update the BIOS for these servers to see if that fixes the issue.

Joan, approximately how long were these two servers up and running befor this happened?  Had you seen any similar behavior previously?
