dl180g5 sas disks not seen
Although we installed the E200 array controller in one of the PCI riser card slots on the main board of DL180G5, firmware says there are no disks available. I suspect that a sas cable is missing from E200 to the disks and I'm not sure there is really a cable?

Re: dl180g5 sas disks not seen
yes there must be a cable from controller e200 to HDDs backplane
Part number
464830-B21
if you are going to use just for 4 HDDs you need 1 but if you are going to use more that 4 HDDs you need 2 cables.
like a day a I had that cable in my hands ;-) doing the same installing a e200 in a Dl180 g5

Re: dl180g5 sas disks not seen
just in case because I had this "issue"
I had the correct cables and connection was fine but when I accessed F8 to get into array configuration utility
there are 3 option
- Create logical drive
- View logical drive
- Delete Logical drive
(attached picture)
I remember I selected "Create logical drive" and I got:
"NO logical driver available" so I could not create the array
so I selected " View logical drive" in menu and found my HDDs had an RAID configured(maybe HDDs taken from another server...) so I went to "Delete Logical drive" and deleted RAID and I was able to see and create the RAID level I wanted with "Create logical drive"
curious I was thinking I had a bad cable - controller or backplane but not It only was that my HDDs were configured and until I deleted that information I was able to see the and create a new RAID
Regards
