dl360 G6 upgrade

Hello

I have a "stock" dl360 G6 (1x Xeon 5520, 4GB, 4-HDD backplane, std RAID) that  i am considering upgrading to beefier specs:

- add a second 5520 CPU

- install top backplane to expand to 8x SFF HDDs (and removing the internal DVDROM drive)

- improve internal RAID controller capabilities to RAID5 and RAID10

Q: will the addition of these parts invalidate any existing warranty?  Could HP please provide relevant option kit PNs and advice on what else might be required (fan?  VRM?)

regards,

Re: dl360 G6 upgrade

Hello,

if you want HP to provide you anything (be it option numbers, prices or assurance that your warranty is not voided) you should probably contact a sales person of HP or one of their partners. The forum is for volunteers who help out where they can.

The quickspecs for the DL360 G6 is what you should use when finding option numbers: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13235_na/13235_na.html

a)

HP DL360 G6 Intel® Xeon® E5520 (2.26GHz/4-core/8MB/80W) FIO Processor Kit 507680-L21
HP DL360 G6 Intel® Xeon® L5520 (2.26GHz/4-core/8MB/60W) FIO Processor Kit 505884-L21

b)

HP DL360G6 SFF HD Backplane Kit
NOTE: Integrated Optical/DVD cannot be used with this option. Optional External USB CD/DVD Drive available.
516966-B21

c)

For RAID1 you do not need anything extra. Default controller is a P410i with 0 memory. For RAID5 you need the cache. BBWC or FBWC. There are various options to choose from.

See the section "Additional Options" and "HP Storage Controllers" in the quickspecs above.

Re: dl360 G6 upgrade

My first processor is the E5530 and i want to install a second one X5670 2,93G, my question is if i can have both, eventhough one is an E and the other one is an X, and also if it cares about the model, i mean, both ofthem have to be 5530 or its ok if they are different.

thank you
